THANK YOU! FOR ALL WHO ATTENDED AND SUPPORTED OUR MEET, WE HAD A GREAT TIME
42nd NCPC National Meet September 8 - 11, 2021
July 1, 2021 Dear fellow NCPC members,
During the past several months I was reminded several times of a large jigsaw puzzle of cars I acquired from AACA depicting classic automobile museums throughout the USA. It was set up on a table in my classroom for my students to work on during their limited free time. On one Monday morning I entered my classroom and was startled to see the almost completed puzzle broken up into several piles on the table along with a note from the night crew apologizing for tipping the table with the ladder as they were replacing filters. The students that worked on that puzzle were frustrated but I found out more determined than ever to start over and complete it! It was now close to June and their extra effort paid off. I remember them putting in the last pieces at their puzzle pizza pie party with a few days to spare. This is not unlike the experience of our 2021 42nd Meet that started in the Summer of 2019... all set for Sept. 2020... regretfully, dismantled in the Spring of 2020. Then, after still dealing with COVID-19 setbacks, new restrictions and, especially, delayed responses from municipalities, it was finally reorganized for Sept. of 2021. As we adjust our Chrome backed day/night rear view mirror we can now see the ''pan'' fading off and turning onto a back road. Our hotel will be the Clarion Inn & Conference Center in Toms River, located on Route 37 near the Garden State Parkway Exit 82. We'll have the fine summer weather without the summer traffic and we'll have special off-season rates 0f $103 to $135 per night plus tax. A "Pre Meet Kick-off " will take place Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 9th at Tuckerton Seaport Museum with a pontoon boat ride with a tour guide & light house visit after we have lunch at the museum restaurant, The Union Market. Tuckerton is 25 miles south of Toms River, directly off the Garden State Parkway on Route 9. Travelers can either meet us at Tuckerton Seaport or stop at the Clarion first, to drop off a trailer & catch up with us at Tuckerton from noon on. After touring the Seaport Museum, we will head back to the Clarion. Later, members are invited to enter their show cars free in ''Cruisin' Downtown Toms River'' on Washington St., which will be blocked off from 6 to 9 PM. There will be plenty of collector cars, live music, and local restaurants to make it an enjoyable evening. On Thursday we plan to visit Jenkinson's Aquarium, their unique nautical theme gift shops and have lunch at Jenkinson's Food Court Pavilion on the Point Pleasant Boardwalk. After lunch and a leisurely stroll on the ''boards'' we will meet up and make a quick stop at the local Vintage Automobile Museum and then head back to the Clarion around 4 PM. Later we will meet up at Stewarts ''over the bridge'' in Seaside Heights at Sunset Beach overlooking the Barnegat bay for our own personal Cruise Nite. Friday will include a luncheon cruise on the Toms River aboard The River Lady Paddle Wheel Boat (11:00 - 1:30), followed by a local surprise mystery tour and then a quick visit to the Ocean County Historical Society Museum right down the block. Friday night dinner will be on your own at Ike's Restaurant in the Clarion. Save room for desert though, at our Ice cream Social, which will be followed by the General Membership Meeting. To showcase our fine automobiles & trucks entered into Saturday's show, we have secured Carteret Ave. Field, which is an attractive rectangular enclosed landscaped park with grass and has a small playground in one corner. The park is located on the 1300 block of Bay Blvd. and Carteret Ave. in Seaside Heights, NJ 08751. Bay Blvd. is a wide street with minimal traffic. The park was a former ball field and may still show up in google maps as Carteret Ave. Ball Field! We plan to have some space surrounding the park to utilize also. Since it is 9/11 we asked the Seaside Heights Volunteer Fire Department to display their truck with a large American Flag out front during our show. for those who are interested, a brief ceremony of tribute to our fallen heroes is being planned. We plan to have a food truck on site. Nearby there is a pedestrian crosswalk that crosses Rt. 35 where Sunset Beach, a fishing pier and our Stewarts Restaurant is located. Just push the ''magic button'' at the crossing and red lights will stop all traffic. Parking for trailers will be available outside of the park. Trailer parking is also available on the back lot of the Clarion for hotel guests only. After a leisurely 7 mile drive back to the Clarion, it will be time for our Evening Awards Banquet in the Rosendahl Ballroom that will bring our 42nd National Meet to a close. On Sunday you may choose to remain in the area since arcades and rides will be open on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk or you may want to attend a large, local car show near the bay. On behalf of my fellow members of the New Jersey Shore Region, we wish to welcome you to Ocean County for our 42nd NCPC National Meet. You will discover many surprises all along the New Jersey Shore. If you have questions, please call me or leave a message at 732 270 3992. More details will be forthcoming in the NCPC Journal. Please SAVE THE DATE and pass this information along to others! "See you in September"!!! 42nd NCPC NATIONAL MEET: WEDNESDAY SEPT. 8 - SATURDAY SEPT. 11, 2021 TOMS RIVER, NEW JERSEY "CRUISIN' THE NEW JERSEY SHORE" Michael W Riebe, and Members of the New Jersey Shore Region
